Alfred D. Lowe, 87, of S. Brookfield Rd., West Edmeston, NY, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford.
He was born May 18, 1925 in Walton, NY, a son of John W. and Mae Simpkin Lowe and was a graduate of Freeport (NY) High School. He joined the U.S. Navy during WWII, proudly serving from 1943 until 1946. On February 23, 1947, Alfred married Margaret Berger in Freeport. She predeceased him on August 19, 1995. Al had worked for New York Telephone from 1947 until retiring in 1976. Moving to the South Brookfield area 35 years ago he bred and raced Standardbred horses. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving are his children, Nancy M. and Donald Cook of West Hempstead, LI; Crystal A. and Robert Skinner of Plymouth, NH; Judith E. Lowe of West Edmeston; Robin A. and William Carney of Millstone Twp, NJ; Daniel A. and Dorothy Lowe of Sherburne; brother and sister-in-law, John and Carol Lowe of CO; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
