Bertha B. Rowley, 91, of Waterville, passed away Saturday December 12, 2015 at the Harding Nursing Home. She was born, February 7, 1924 in Ava, the youngest child of Ambrose and Emma Seiter Beha. She graduated from Waterville High School and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, Rochester. On June 28, 1952 in St. Bernard’s Church, Waterville she was united in marriage to David A, Rowley. He predeceased her February 22, 1960. Bertha was a Registered Nurse and did home health care and worked in various hospitals. She retired from Harding Nursing Home in 1984. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church and the Altar Rosary Society. Bertha received the “Caretaker of The Year Award “ for Oneida County in 2000.
Surviving are her three daughters and two sons in law, Patricia Oleksik of Ilion; Kathleen and Robert Kilroy of Las Vegas, NV; Mary Margaret “Peggy” and James Simmons of Waterville; two granddaughters, Tracy Simpson of Waterville; Amy Kilroy of Ferndale, MI, great grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Tiffany, great great grandchildren, Paisley and Belle. She was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Dunn, Cecelia Roldan and Mary Cravotta. Three brothers, Joseph, John and Donald Beha.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM from St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Stafford Ave., Waterville. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Parish Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
