Charles Cuney

October 11, 1916 — April 30, 2014

Charles P. “Pete” Cuney, 97, of Eaton, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica.
He was born October 11, 1916 in the Town of Sterling, a son of Fred K. and Myrtle Mae Smith Cuney and received his education in local schools. On August 5, 1939, Charles married Marie Bulkley in Georgetown. She predeceased him on July 19, 1993. Charles had worked for the Georgetown Highway Department for 16 years, retiring in 1978. He had previously worked for Norm Evans and William Stradling.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Georgetown where he had served as a deacon and trustee. He served on the Georgetown Town Board for 17 years.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Marie and August Herboldt of West Eaton; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cuney of Morrisville; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, four sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
Interment will follow in the Hawk Cemetery, Georgetown.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon to 2pm. Pete’s request,
was that everyone attending wear bright clothing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
