CORA (MAYNARD) TIFFANY
NORWICH: Cora (Maynard) Tiffany, 86, formerly of Smyrna and Hamilton, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Chenango Memorial RHCF in Norwich.
She was born March 13, 1928 in Oxford, a daughter of Leon and Edna Livermore Northrup and was a 1946 graduate of Sherburne High School. In June 1946 Cora married David J. Maynard who predeceased her on April 8, 1980. She married Leslie T. Tiffany in 1983, who died on October 3, 1991. Cora devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who was well known for her homemade bread. She was a creative person who enjoyed crafting, knitting and crocheting. At one time, she also delivered the Evening Sun newspaper.
Cora was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church where she had been the organist for many years. She had been a 4-H leader for several years.
Surviving are her children, William Bruce and Audrey Maynard of Voorheesville; Elizabeth and William Sweet of Sherburne; Gordon and Darla Maynard of Smyrna; Alice and Rev. Brown Naik of Endicott; and David Maynard of Verona; a sister Ellen O’Varto of River Oaks, TX; a brother, Frank Northrup of Oneonta; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Leon and Floyd Northrup and a grandson, Bryan Buckingham
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September, 2, 2014 from the Smyrna Baptist Church, followed by interment in the North Norwich Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Monday, September 1, 2014 from 2 to 5 PM
