David Brower

David Royce Brower, 74, previously of Morrisville, NY and Anchorage,AK, died Dec 3, 2017, in Tallahassee, FL.
David was born September 14, 1943, in Oneida, NY, to Cecile (Wilt) Brower & Royce Burr Brower. He grew up in Morrisville, NY, and graduated from Morrisville Eaton Central School.
He served in the US Air Force from 1961-1966. He studied surveying at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY, and moved to Alaska in 1977 to work as a surveyor. Later, he was a beloved city bus driver in Anchorage for 24 years until his retirement in 2004. As a city bus driver, he was commended several times in letters to the editor of the Anchorage Daily News for his considerate treatment of passengers. He moved to Tallahassee in 2013.
Since his teenage years, he had a finely-tuned ear for music, and assembled an extensive music collection from many genres. He was also an avid collector of model train cars and Native American art and jewelry. He supported a wide variety of social and political causes.
He is survived by his sister, Marilyn (Allen) Huntley of West Winfield, NY; his brother, Ralph (Nancy) Brower of Tallahassee; and seven nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and by his younger brothers, Andrew Brower and Clayton Brower.
A memorial service will be held at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville, NY, on June 30, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service in the Morrisville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Indian College Fund, the Southern Poverty Law Center, or the World Wildlife Fund.
