Dolores M. “Dede” Nassimos, 80, formerly of Bouckville, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville.
She was born April 1, 1934 in Utica, a daughter of Saba Joseph and Jennie Abdulla Saba. She was a graduate of Sherburne High School in 1952 and received her RN degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1955. On July 25, 1959, Dolores married Joseph E. Nassimos in St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne. Dede had worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, the G.E. Dispensary in Utica and part-time for the Colgate University Infirmary in Hamilton and SUNY, Morrisville Infirmary until her retirement.
Mrs. Nassimos was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton, and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Dede is survived by her husband, Joseph; her children, Alice Jacobs of Bouckville; James and Colleen Nassimos of Madison; Gregory and Colleen Nassimos of Newark, NY; Jennifer Barnes, Joseph and Sheila Nassimos, all of Madison; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ignatius and Jackie Saba of Raleigh, NC; Anthony and Elaine Saba of Rochester; her grandchildren, Lucas Jacobs, Damon & Melissa Jacobs, Leigh Anne & Derrick Masker; Rachel Nassimos and Daniel Nassimos; Geoffrey, Alexander and Samantha Nassimos; Emily Barnes, Abigail Barnes and her fiancé Michael Hall, Nicholas Barnes; Brooke Nassimos and Noah Nassimos; and a great-granddaughter Kylee Marie Jacobs; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her in-laws, Fred and Jackie Nackley of KS; John Nassimos of Utica; Violet and George Yany of RI; Patricia Nassimos of Utica; Edward and Carmella Nassimos of Utica; Selma and Harry Smith of Utica; and her lifetime best friend Winifred Abbott Mitchell of New York Mills.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday, September 19, 2014 from St. Mary’s Church, 16 Wylie St., Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The rosary will be recited at 1:45pm.
