Dorothy K. Abbott, 59, of Randall Ave., Norwich, NY, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at her home.
She was born June 20, 1949 in Norwich, a daughter of LeRoy and Constance Garrigan Abbott, and was a graduate of Norwich High School. She worked with her family in the operation of their business, Abbott’s Flower Shop in Norwich. Dorothy was a compassionate and caring person who always showed great concern for others. She was an animal lover and enjoyed square dancing.
Surviving are her mother, Connie Abbott of Norwich; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Abbott of Norwich; Gary Abbott of Norwich; Linn and Michelle Abbott of Simpsonville, SC; a sister, Mary Lou Bromley of Ogdensburg, NY; two nieces, five nephews and two grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her father, LeRoy, and a sister Linda Pitcher.
Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family in the North Norwich Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
