Dorothy A. Rogers of Brookfield, NY, passed away on August 17, 2012 at the age of 63, with her family by her side, after a long battle with lung cancer.
She was born on October 16, 1948 in Cooperstown to the late Glynn and Anita Dickison Gregory. Dorothy was a member of the Brookfield community for over 30 years. She had worked at the Brookfield Central School and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Brookfield Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, crafting and surfing the internet, as well as dining at Red Lobster. She was also a loving foster mother who cared for many children over the years.
Surviving are her children, George Crippen and his wife, Tabetha Rathbone of Cooperstown; Erin Rogers and her fiancé, Tim Murray of Rome; three grandchildren, Zachary, Tanner and Kate Crippen; three siblings, Glynn Jr. and Edith Gregory of Poland, NY; Lucinda Gregory and Terry Pierce of Brookfield; and Betty Gregory of Brookfield. She was also loved by her 2 nieces, 4 nephews and many great-nieces and -nephews; as well as a foster son, Michael Sharon and many other foster children. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheri Crippen in 1997; and 2 brothers, Dale and William Gregory.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Brookfield, followed by interment in the Brookfield Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the church from 11am until 1pm prior to the service.
