Douglas L. Charles, 69, of Johnnycake Hill Rd., Hamilton, NY, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at his home.
He was born May 16, 1944 in Syracuse, a son of John and Isabell Armstrong Charles and was a graduate of Hamilton Central School. On November 17, 1962, Douglas married Janice Chilson in Eaton. Doug was a farmer for 25 years, an occupation he truly loved and enjoyed doing. He had also worked for the Town of Eaton highway department, and later was the Supervisor for the Town of Madison Highway Department until he retired.
Doug was a former member of the Fountain Fire Co. #1 of Hamilton; and a former member and past president of the Hamilton Sports Boosters.
Surviving are his wife, Janice; his children, Jeffrey Charles of Hightstown, NJ; Kimberly Williams of Madison; and Jennifer Maddison of Rochester; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Edgar Wedge of Penn Yan; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Charles of Pulaski; grandchildren, Megan and Billy Williams; James, Abigail, Harry and Lucy Maddison; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, December 19, 2013 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11am to 1pm prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Smith's Valley Cemetery, Randallsville, in the spring.
