EARLE R. FORD
Earle R. Ford, 69, of Burkert Road, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at University Hospital in Syracuse.
The son of the late Raymond Ford and Marie Burkert Ford, Earle was born in Waterville on January 28, 1942 and was a graduate of Waterville High School. On November 26, 1977 he was united in marriage to Linda S. Schindler of Knoxboro.
Earle and Linda owned and operated their family dairy farm, Ford Acres in Waterville, and accumulated many other properties until their retirement in 2008. Earle was also a sales representative for Pioneer both before and after retirement. He was of the Catholic faith, a member of the FFA and 4H Club in his youth, belonged to the Waterville Grange, and served as a committee member for Cruising Into Waterville.
Earle was a family-oriented man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, bowling in the Waterville and Oriskany Falls Bowling Leagues, and crafting things for himself and others in his machine shop. For several years, Earle and his wife hosted an annual Fourth of July picnic, where friends and neighbors enjoyed a day of fun and relaxation. Earle was also an active participant in tractor pulls held at the local fairs, and was a mentor to many involved.
He is survived by his wife Linda; her parents, Stewart and Laura Schindler of Knoxboro; Six children: Amanda Ford and fiancé Greg Odom of NYC, Michael Ford and Janelle Grant of Washington Mills; Jeffrey and Diane Williams of Waterville; Robin Rahrle of Syracuse; Kelly Sullivan of Clinton; and Mark Williams and Michael Tobin of San Diego, CA; a sister Bernice Benson of New Hartford; thirteen grandchildren: Brooke, Hunter, and Dawson Williams; Alexa, Emily, and Jenna Rahrle; Daniel, Patrick, William, Shane, and Thomas Sullivan; Adam and Kevin Williams; along with numerous cousins and extended family.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 5pm to 8pm at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Waterville Vol. Fire Dept.
