OBITUARY
Edwin A. “Pete” Abbott, 77, of Eaton Brook Rd., Eaton, NY passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY.
He was born January 24, 1934 in Victory, NY, a son of William and Kathryn O’Neil Abbott and received his education in Morrisville schools. He joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict. On February 23, 1957, Edwin was married to Shirley L. Sternburg in Clockville. It was a loving union of 54 years. “Pete” worked for General Electric in Syracuse until his retirement. He was also a dairy farmer most of his life who called farming his “hobby”.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; his children, Edwin “Joe” Abbott, William Abbott and Alan Abbott, all of Eaton; Donna and Peter Girard of Munnsville; Kim and Bryan Clement-Eldridge, Karen and Scott Holbert, all of Morrisville; sister, Lucy Colvin of Perryville; brother, Donald Abbott of Avon; fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his special friends, Kevin Clementi of Georgetown; Ruth Abbott and Frank Ogden of Lebanon; Sandra Abbott and Butch of Eaton; and Carlton Abrams of Eaton. He was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm Saturday, June 18, 2011 from the Faith Baptist Church, Cambridge Ave., Morrisville.
Burial will be private at the convenience of his family.
Friends are invited to call at the church on Saturday from 2-4pm prior to the service.
