Elsie Dunning, 87, of Hamilton, formerly of Franklinville, NY, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born December 11, 1925 in Caneadea NY, a daughter of Ernest, Sr. and Lillian “Lily” Hampton Taylor and was a graduate of Rushford High School. On December 24, 1943, Elsie married Lloyd D. Dunning in Ebenezer, NY. He predeceased her on November 10, 2006. Elsie was a homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, as well as gardening, and she loved to bake and cook. She was very musically inclined as a pianist, violinist and enjoyed singing.
Surviving are her children, Lettie Nelson-Sampson and her husband, Ronald Sampson of Plymouth; Diedre and William Litzenberger of Crystal Lake, IL; and Donald Dunning of Franklinville; brothers, Robert Taylor of Reading, CA and Frank Taylor of Tonawanda, NY; grandchildren, Martha and David Young of Hamilton; Monica Nelson and Wassim Mazraany of Andover, MA; Melissa and Eric O’Brien of Ceres, NY; Julie and Kerry Hotopp of Columbia, MD; Jonathan and Laura Litzenberger of Newnan, GA; and Jennifer Litzenberger of Madison, WI; great-grandchildren, Ameera, Aayah and Moussa Mazraany, Samantha O’Brien, and Cedric Hotopp; Michael and Nicholas Litzenberger; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. George E. Taylor and Russell Taylor; and a son-in-law, Maurice Nelson.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, November 10, 2013 from the Park United Methodist Church, 17 Broad St., Hamilton.
Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the church on Sunday from 1 to 2pm prior to the service.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Community Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, SOMAC, or Park United Methodist Church.
