Emma Josephine Ferris Tredway, 88, formerly of Sherburne, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville.
She was born October 18, 1925 in Sherburne, NY, she was one of twelve children of Floyd and Clara Baker Ferris, and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On January 16, 1944, Emma married Charles Everett Tredway in Sherburne. Their loving union of 60 years ended with Everett’s death on August 1, 2004. Emma had worked for Hunt Club Dog Food in Sherburne for over 30 years. She later worked for Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals (Proctor & Gamble) for 7 years, retiring in 1985.
Emma led a long and fruitful life with a lot of favorite pursuits. One of her favorite past times was sewing. She made a patchwork blanket for all of her grandchildren, her sisters and several nieces and nephews. Emma was a wonderful and dedicated wife and mother. She was actively involved with her grandchildren and loved them dearly. There wasn’t anything that Emma wouldn’t do for her family.
Surviving are her only son and his wife, Thomas and Katherine Tredway; their children, Alyson and her husband, Nicholas Inclan; Joshua, Brittany and Emily Tredway, and her great-grandson, Judah, all of Louisville, KY; her only surviving sibling of the twelve, Arlene Jones and her husband, Leonard of North Norwich; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Catherine (Robert) Lloyd of Earlville, brother-in-law, Wesley (Linda) Tredway of Sherburne and sister-in-law Mildred Tredway of Smyrna. She was predeceased by her sisters, Arvilla Soule, Wilma Welch, Doris Morris and Marla Campbell; and brothers, Floyd, Jr., Neil, Robert, William, Richard, and Norman Ferris; and a brother-in-law, Jessie (Jake) Tredway.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday July 11, 2014 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in the West Hill Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 11am to 1pm prior to the service
