Evelyn Gerhardt

Evelyn C. “Carol” Gerhardt, 91, of Osborne Ave., Waterville, NY, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica, NY.
She was born October 29, 1920 in Earlville, a daughter of James and Bess Tarbell McClintock. She was raised in Brookfield and was a graduate of Brookfield High School. On March 6, 1943, Evelyn married Carl E. Gerhardt in Brookfield. He predeceased her on May 7, 1979. Along with her husband, Carl, she co-owned and operated Gerhardt’s Garage, the Bridgewater Laundromat and Carl’s Frosty Twist all in Bridgewater. She retired in 1983 and loved to travel.
Mrs. Gerhardt was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Waterville where she had been the Sunday School Superintendant, a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. She was very community minded and involved in several area organizations. She was an honorary member of the Waterville Fire Department Auxiliary; a member of the CNY O.E. S. Chapter #188; a member of the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post Auxiliary; and a member of the Waterville Senior Citizens. She was the recipient of the Waterville Rotary’s “Roses for the Living”, the Sanger Lodge Dwight Clinton Award, and twice received the Office for the Aging Citizens’ Award.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Carl, II. and Debbie Gerhardt of Waterville; one sister, Margaret McClintock of Oriskany; her grandchildren, Carl, III and Jacqulyn, Brandon, and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Carly Evelyn, Alexander and Scarlett. She was predeceased by a sister, Bess Davis.
An O.E.S. service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 East Main St., Waterville.
Interment in the Waterville Cemetery will be in the spring.
Friend are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service from 1-2pm.
