Gerald R. “Jerry” Fry, 75, of East Lake Rd., Hamilton, NY, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his home.
He was born April 12, 1938 in Webster, NY, a son of the late Ovid and Marion Wilbert Fry. He was a graduate of Webster High School, received his BA and MBA from Cornell University, and his EDD from Syracuse University. Jerry was a professor and administrator at Morrisville State College until his retirement in 1994. On November 4, 1961, in Watertown, Gerald married Marjorie J. Averill, who predeceased him on May 1, 1988. On June 9, 1990, Gerald married Victoria A. Tomcho in Hamilton. They enjoyed a loving union of 23 years.
Jerry was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton. He was a former member of the Hamilton Fire Department; and a member of the Utica Sail and Power Squadron. He loved spending time at his second home on the St. Lawrence River in the Town of Hammond.
Surviving are his beloved and devoted wife, Vicky; mother-in-law, Victoria Tomcho of Hamilton; his children, Shawn and Victoria Fry of Sherburne; Michael Fry and Sarah of Charlottesville, VA; Christopher and Denise Fry of Marcy; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Chuck Barrett of FL; brother and sisters-in-law, Dick and Nancy Fry of E. Williamson; and Gail Fry of Webster; grandchildren, Rebecca and Zachary, and step-grandchildren, John and Matthew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Fry and a sister, Linda Fry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from St. Mary’s Church, 16 Wylie St., Hamilton, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Tuesday from 5-7pm. The rosary will be recited at 4:45pm.
His family has requested that contributions in his memory be made to the Madison Ambulance Squad for their quick response and kindness.
