Geraldine Halliday

Geraldine S. Halliday, 93, of Harvey Cedars, NJ, formerly of Allentown, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Hamilton, NY. Geraldine was born in Northampton, PA on October 2, 1920, a daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Newhard Stine. She was a graduate of Liberty High School and business school in Bethlehem, PA. She worked as a secretary for the Bethlehem Steel Co. where she met her husband, Norman H. Halliday. They were married on May 23, 1953 in Bethlehem and were together for 42 years when he predeceased her in 1995. During those years, Geraldine was a homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Elizabeth Halliday of Chelsea, MI; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Rev. Wesley Smith of Hamilton; sisters, Kathleen Cope of Spokane, WA and Mary LaCroix of Dallas, TX; brothers and a sister-in-law, Harry Stine, Jr. of Gilbertsville, PA; Dr. Robert and Lois Stine of Washington, IL; and Dale “Rod” Stine of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren, Nathan Halliday, his wife Jessica; Devin and Salina Halliday; Lauren and Daniel Davidson; and Jaclyn Alexander; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Aaron Davidson; Caleb Smith, Ayana and Olivia Alexander; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a young brother, Royce Stine; and her step-mother, Florence Stine.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 27 Broad St., Hamilton, NY.
Her family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 to 7:00pm prior to the service.
Interment will be held at 2pm Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the Greenwood Cemetery, Northampton, PA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to a local animal shelter; the First Baptist Church, PO Box 73, Hamilton, NY 13346; or to Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413.
