Grace Ester Irene Starbird Roydhouse, passed away at her home in Palm Bay, FL on February 12, 2013 with her family beside her.
Gracie was born May 26, 1925 in Solvay, NY, a daughter of Joseph and Ada Smith Starbird. On May 30, 1942, she married M/Sgt Rodman E. Roydhouse, a union of 41 years when he passed away on April 23, 1983. Gracie was a very loving, caring and sharing person who always said there was a spot in her heart for each and every family member. She was the rock of the family, and no matter what the problem, she could always be counted on for advice and support.
Grace was a Sergeant with the Broward County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years. She was one of the first women in Florida to be a Deputy able to carry a gun with full arrest powers. She later worked with the state at the women’s state prison system in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Grace is survived by her five children, Brad Roydhouse and his wife Veronica Anderson of Palm Bay; Lois Roydhouse of Charlotte, NC; Janet Archer who resided with her mother in Palm Bay; Paul Roydhouse and his wife Linda Bush Roydhouse of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and David Roydhouse of Palm Bay; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She and her husband also raised a niece and nephew whom she loved very much. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, a sister-in-law, and beloved special friends who loved her dearly. She will truly be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, May 2, 2013 from the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville NY. Following the service, she will be laid next to her husband in the Waterville Cemetery.
