Harold “Gus” Buschatzke, 88, of Brookside Dr., Clinton, NY, formerly of Airport Rd., Hamilton, NY, and Linwood Place, Massapequa, NY, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford.
He was born July 31, 1927 in Hempstead, NY, a son of Harold and Ella Essman Buschatzke and was a graduate of Hempstead schools. From March 1945 to August 1946, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. On April 17, 1949, Harold married Constance “Connie” Casa in Franklin Square, NY. Gus worked for NY Telephone in the New York City area as a repairman and then a line tester until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed model trains and planes, was an avid hunter and shooter and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a private pilot.
Surviving are his wife of over 66 years, Connie; his children, Dr. Richard and Mildred Buschatzke of Cazenovia; Donald and Linda Buschatzke of El Cajon, CA; Tom and Pam Buschatzke of Phoenix, AZ; Doug and Linda Buschatzke of Oneida; eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and a daughter-in-law, Maureen.
In keeping with his wishes, graveside services with military honors in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton, are private.
