Helmut Frank Matthai, 65, of Boos Law Rd., Smyrna, NY, formerly of Farmingdale, LI, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
He was born on March 4, 1945 in Fritzlar, Germany. After immigrating to the United States, he joined the U.S. Army in 1964 where he served in the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1967. He was a machinist by trade until his retirement.
Interment in the Willcox Cemetery, Smyrna, will be private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
