Howard A. Schryber, 85, of North Main St., Sherburne, NY, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at home.
He was born December 29, 1925 in Andes, NY, a son of David and Edith Coss Schryber and received his education in Andes schools. He joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in World War II. On May 7, 1989, Howard married the former Susie Hicks in North Norwich. He was a tractor-trailer driver for J.B. Hunt until his retirement. He had previously been a corrections officer and sheriff’s deputy in Newton, NJ.
Howard was a member of the VFW Post #2782 of Norwich.
Surviving are his wife, Susie; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Paul Frisbie of Sherburne; stepchildren, Kenneth and Martha Pattee of Sherburne; Thomas and Darleen Pattee of Bainbridge; Kathryn Hatton of Norwich; Dawn Harris of Sidney Center; Regina and Terry Richart of Canton, PA; Brenda Adams of Norwich; Lucinda and Scott Maine of Leonardsville; four grandchildren, Tiffani Miles, Brandon Miles, Breanna Frisbie and Toby Frisbie; twenty-three step-grandchildren, including a special step-granddaughter, Susie Hoffman; a great-granddaughter, Bailie Collins; and several cousins.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 3pm Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be private at the convenience of his family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-3 pm, prior to the service.
