Irene M. DeSimone

January 16, 1934 — December 13, 2020

Irene M. DeSimone, 86, of Utica formerly of New Hartford and Clinton, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at her home. She was born January 16, 1934 in Waterville one of six children of George and Anna Kelly Condon. She graduated from Waterville High School where she took part in the senior play, a special memory for Irene. Irene was proud of her Irish heritage, hearing many stories about her mother’s homeland and especially liked the song “Danny Boy”.
She worked at Utica Mutual for some time. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church, Waterville, along with Our Lady of Lourdes, Utica, and while living in New Hartford was a communicate of St. Thomas Church and a member of the Rosary Alter Society. Irene liked to take long walks with her grandchildren and was a member of a local fitness center where she looked forward to going every week. Irene met many friends at the center and will be greatly missed.
Her family was her pride and joy. Surviving are her children, Gary and Carol DeSimone of Chattanooga, TN; Diane and Daniel McDonough of Vernon Center; Thomas DeSimone, of Utica; Michael DeSimone of Utica, and Paul and Bethany DeSimone of Sangerfield, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, George, John, and Joseph Condon and two sisters, Maralyn Dorrington and Mary Ann Johnson.

A private Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Church Waterville. Interment will be held in the spring in St. Bernard’s Parish Cemetery.
Friends are invited and may call Thursday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St. Waterville, NY 13480.
Contributions in Irene’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
