James R. Dickinson, 83, of East Lake Rd., Hamilton, NY, passed away on Monday December 23, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Infirmary, Argyle, NY.
He was born in Norwich on November 30, 1930 a son of the late Raymond J. and Mildred Barnes Dickinson. Mr. Dickinson graduated from New York Mills High School, MVII and completed his seminary studies at Boston University. On September 25, 1954 in Rome he was united marriage to the former Jean Holmes. She predeceased him on April 3, 2011. Mr. Dickinson’s served as a pastor for many church’s over the years including, Brookfield UMC, N. Columbia UMC, Great Bend Champion UMC, Verona UMC and finally the Vienna UMC until his retirement. Following his retirement he moved to Hamilton and served at the Columbus Corners Baptist Church for several years. He was currently a member of the Madison United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children, James R. “Gordie”, Jr. and Michelle Dickinson of Rotterdam; Jeffrey and Nina Dickinson of Indian Lake; Jon and Tamberlyn Dickinson of Queensbury; Janet and William “Bill” Lindberg of Chattanooga, TN; Jeri and Mark McMonagle of Honeoye Falls and Jannie Diaz of Louisville, KY. He also leaves 14 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his step-mother Helen Lee
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM from the United Methodist Church in Madison. Interment will take place in the spring at the Madison Village Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 3 to 7 PM at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St. Hamilton, NY
