Jane Gray Clark, 89, of Oriskany Falls, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Lutheran Care Facility in Clinton.
She was born March 5, 1924 in Little Falls, a daughter of Charles and Verne Brondstatter Gray. Jane graduated from Oriskany Falls High School and St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing. She worked at Community Memorial Hospital and the Colgate University Health Center in Hamilton until retiring in 1973. On March 12, 1944, Jane married Oliver H. Clark in Oriskany Falls. He predeceased her on April 16, 1997. Jane was wonderful organic gardener who truly enjoyed her flowers and was affectionately called “Mother Earth” by her daughter. She was a talented artist who painted in oils, and a musician who played piano and organ.
Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oriskany Falls; the Augusta Chapter O.E.S.; the Oriskany Falls Garden Club and volunteered at the Waterville Food Pantry.
Surviving are her daughters, Ellen Clark and Patricia Reilly, both of Oriskany Falls and Julie Kelley of Waterville; a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Violet Clark of the Town of Ohio; sister, Elaine Johnsen of Oriskany Falls; grandchildren, John Bruno, Phillip Clark, Jr., Matthew Clark, Daniel Reilly, Carrie Empie, Aaron Kelley and Sarah Kelsey; great-grandchildren, Keagan Reilly, Braeden Reilly, Leah Reilly, Christina Bruno, Elizabeth Bruno, Julia Bruno. Ayla Empie, Sonya Empie, Maximilian Kelley and Harper Kelsey; sister-in-law, Pauline Gray of Waterville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Chris Clark and a brother, Charles Gray.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, November 2, 2013 from the Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, followed by interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Oriskany Falls.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 pm.
