Jean B. Davis, 80, of Sanger Ave., Waterville, NY, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Katherine Luther Home in Clinton.
She was born May 18, 1934 in Utica, a daughter of Edward and Luella Kaelin Burns and was a graduate of Clinton High School. On May 21, 1955, Jean married Lyle E. Davis in Utica who predeceased her on August 1, 1993. Jean was devoted to her family and friends and spending time with them was her greatest joy. She was an active member of the community and a truly artistic person. She expressed her love for life through her music and art.
Jean was a member of St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville where she was the Director of religious education for over 20 years.
Surviving are her daughters Linda Davis-Lepkowski of Waterville and Cheryl Davis-Newton of Camillus; a son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Sandy Davis of Waterville; here sisters and a brothe-in-law, Joan and Clarence Carpenter, and Edwina Feldman, all of FL; and Karen Joswick of Utica; eight grandchildren, Jessica Lepkowski, Raena Dye, Kelly Jean Newton, Justin Andrew Newton; Karlie Davis; Ann Marie Mezza; Alexander and Benjamin Brackett; great-grandchildren, Aubrielle Davis and Liam Newton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughters, Lisa A. Davis in 2012 and Holly E. Brackett in 2014.
Memorial services will be held at 6pm Thursday, January 22, 2015 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel).
Interment will be private at the convenience of her family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6pm prior to the service.
Her family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Lutheran Home and the nurses, CNA’s and staff on the Saul Unit for their wonderful care.
