John E. Harris, 68, of Farrier Ave., Oneida, NY, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Oneida Health Care Extended Care Facility, Oneida.
He was born December 3, 1943 in Madison, a son of Edward and Eleanor Lewis Harris. He received his education in Florida and Hamilton schools. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army 502nd Division from 1965 to 1967. He was a resident of Florida for 48 years before moving back to central NY in 2007. He had been a truck driver at one time, worked for the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Center in Orlando, Fl, and then Publix Supermarket in Orlando until his retirement. John loved to cook.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Rhonda Denison of New Bern, NC; and his grandchildren, Hailey, Tammy and Kimberly Denison. His brother, Wesley Harris, and his beloved dog, Peanut, predeceased him.
Graveside services will be held at 10am Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the Madison Village Cemetery, Madison, NY.
There will be no calling hours.
