1918 John 2012

John McEligot

September 21, 1918 — August 9, 2012

DAYTONA BEACH, FL: John P. “JP” McEligot, 93, a proud Marine and Iwo Jima survivor, left our earthly world on August 9, 2012, but in his place remains the light of his beautiful soul where he has touched family and friends. To his family he was a humble, happy, caring, devout Catholic who led by example, showing how God wants us to treat other people. John was a provider of joy to his son, Jack, his grandchildren, Mike, Mark, Michelle, Kelly and Kim, his eight great-grandchildren, and countless relatives and friends. He was a man of the highest character, who has always been and always will be a guiding light to all. He is gone but never forgotten, because if you knew him, your life was touched in a special way.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, August 18, 2012, from St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne, NY, followed by interment with military honors in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, consider donations to Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Cancer Foundation, 6601 Frederick Rd., Baltimore, MD 21228.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
