DAYTONA BEACH, FL: John P. “JP” McEligot, 93, a proud Marine and Iwo Jima survivor, left our earthly world on August 9, 2012, but in his place remains the light of his beautiful soul where he has touched family and friends. To his family he was a humble, happy, caring, devout Catholic who led by example, showing how God wants us to treat other people. John was a provider of joy to his son, Jack, his grandchildren, Mike, Mark, Michelle, Kelly and Kim, his eight great-grandchildren, and countless relatives and friends. He was a man of the highest character, who has always been and always will be a guiding light to all. He is gone but never forgotten, because if you knew him, your life was touched in a special way.
