John J. Wandle, 77, of Clinton, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville, NY.
He was born on March 31, 1939 in Syracuse, NY a son of Harold and Emma Gillett Wandle. He was raised and educated in Utica, NY. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School, Utica, and was a graduate of New York Mills High School. In 1961, John married Jean E. Macdonald in Sacred Heart Church, Utica, NY. From that union came the blessing of a son, Timothy John Wandle. John entered into a second marriage to Judy Purdy, Hamilton, NY. From that union came the blessing of a daughter, Kristy Wandle.
One of John’s first jobs was in the Boston Store, Utica, NY, where he made many friends and learned good work ethics. He then learned the printing trade. John worked in the printing industry for many years. His early working years he worked at Colgate University producing school catalogs and brochures. His later working years were in the Binghamton/Vestal area working for major printing companies. He enjoyed photography, drawing and painting. He also loved to work with wood and build furniture as a hobby.
John is survived by his children, Timothy J. (Cindi) Wandle, Waterville, NY; and Kristy Wandle, North Carolina; granddaughters, Samantha Wandle and Candice Wandle; grandsons, Ryan (Brittney) Cook and Matthew (Ashley) Cook and three great grandchildren, Gavin; Aria and Grayson; a brother, Richard Wandle of New Hartford NY; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Harold Wandle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, April 16, 2016 from St. Bernard’s Church, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville, NY followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yorkville, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel), 210 East Main St., Waterville on Friday from 6-8pm.
