KATHRYN ANN “Kay” MORTON
HAMILTON:
Kathryn Ann “Kay” Morton, 76, of Smith Rd., passed away, Wednesday September 30, 2015 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She was born on October 17, 1938 in Utica, a daughter of the late Marcel “Red” and Violet “ Nicky” (Lloyd) Chesbro and graduated from Hamilton High School. On July 17, 1958 in Hamilton she married Richard F. Morton, a union of 57 years. Kay along with her husband owned and operated the Village Hardware in Hamilton until their retirement. She also owned and operated KDS Antiques in Bouckville, a business she had started in the back of the hardware store and that she continued following retirement. She was a former employee of NY Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator in Hamilton and Connecticut. She is a member of the Park United Methodist Church, Hamilton. Kay was a very active volunteer in the community. She loved caring for her home, baking, reading, gardening and most of all her family.
Surviving is her husband Richard “Dick” Morton; two daughters and sons in law, Audrey (Morton) & Donald Miller; Suzanne (Morton) and Timothy Collins of Hamilton; grandchildren, Zachary and Kelsey Collins of Eaton; Emily Collins of Stamford; Dylan Collins of Hamilton; Noah Miller and Elijah Miller of Hamilton. A sister and brother in law Barbara and Franz Tilke of Garden City, SC; a brother and sister in Law James and Patricia Chesbro of Wasilla, AK and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY 13346. Interment will follow in Madison Street Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends are invited and may call on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
