Larry M. Coger, 66, of Church Rd., Hamilton, NY, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
He was born on July 4, 1947 in Oneida, a son of Mark and Galyn Rainey Coger and was a graduate of Hamilton Central School. On April 8, 1978, Larry married Barbara Lamb in Oneida Castle. A lifelong Hamilton resident, Larry worked on the family farm and then was a custodian at Colgate University for 23 years until retiring in 2010. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose family was his greatest joy. A supportive and dedicated Dad, he was always involved in his children’s activities as a Cub Scout leader and Little League coach for many years. He enjoyed country living, tending his yard, target practice, and traveling, especially to the Maine coast. He loved life, had a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend.
Larry was a member of the Park United Methodist Church in Hamilton.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; his children, Adam and Mariann Coger of East Syracuse; John and Amanda Coger of Hamilton; his beloved granddaughter, Estellese; a sister-in-law, Martha Lamb and a brother-in-law, Fred Lamb and his wife, Anna May; as well as many cousins, aunts, an uncle, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, January 16, 2014 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton.
Spring interment will be in the Smith’s Valley Cemetery, Randallsville.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7pm.
