Lawrence E. “Larry” Nichols
Lawrence E. “Larry” Nichols, 74, of Waterville, entered into his eternal rest on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Harding Nursing Home.
He was born in Oneida, NY on August 4, 1941 with only the name of Nichols. Very little is known about Larry’s early years because he was an orphan and never knew his family. As a young man and for many years following, he worked for the Bernie Rutkowski farm on Saw Mill Road in Oriskany Falls. In later years, Larry volunteered and delivered meals on wheels. He was awarded recognitions by the County Executive for his service to senior programs in Oneida County. He was a very giving person, always happy and joking, but never talked about his childhood. Larry was used by God to bring joy to his many friends at the School House Apartments where he lived for almost 20 years. Also, they loved him at senior day care. Always with a smile, Larry will be missed by many. Although Larry had no church affiliation, and faced with his own mortality, he recently accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by 2 special friends and caregivers, Ginny Davies and Betty Barth.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 4 PM at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel) 210 East Main Street, Waterville, NY.
Contributions may be made to the Waterville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps. at 7769 State Route 20, Waterville, NY 13480
