Lawrence Pare'

Lawrence G. Pare’, Sr., 87, formerly of Springfield, PA, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford, NY.
He was born June 24, 1923 in Whitesboro, NY, a son of George and Wilhelmina “Marie” Deroches Pare’. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School in 1942 and the Antoinelli School of Photography in Philadelphia in 1947. Lawrence was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Forces in October 1942 and completed Photography School at Lowrey Field in Denver, CO in 1943. He participated in air offensives over Japan, Central Burma, the Central Pacific and China as an aero photo gunner and aerial photographer on reconnaissance missions. He was discharged in November 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his discharge, he began his career as a color technician and part owner of Peter Dant Photographic Illustration Studio in Philadelphia, PA. He was later employed by Edraydo, Inc. in Haverford, PA, and then for Haverford House Printing in Wayne, PA until his retirement. On December 28, 1946 in Utica, NY, Lawrence was united in marriage to Dorothy Jane Hughes who predeceased him.
Lawrence was an excellent artist in oil, pencil and watercolor. He was a talented photographer who continued his passion for photography throughout his life. He had a love of gardening and grew vegetables and beautiful flower gardens. He could always be seen walking his dog and he loved to stop and chat. His wonderfully dry sense of humor always provoked a laugh. He was a member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Springfield, PA.
Surviving are his son, Lawrence G. Pare’, Jr. of Waterville, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Ronald Goltz of Westtown, PA; two sisters, Rachel Smith of Whitesboro, NY; Frances (Donald) Teska of Cato, NY; sisters-in-law, Ruth Pare’ of Oriskany, NY and Pauline Pare’ of Grants Pass, OR; four grandchildren, Justin and Joseph Pare’, Jillian and Jaimie Goltz; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gerard and Roger Pare’, and a sister, Joan Bauza and a grandson, Joshua Goltz.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, NY.
