Lawrence W. Shantal, 77, of Sanford Rd., Morrisville, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Crouse Community Center. He was born March 30, 1937 in Pierrepont, NY a son of Joseph and Gladys Enslow Shantal and received his education in Pierrepont schools. Lawrence married Una Hardell Shantal, who predeceased him. He later married Pauline Moon on May 9, 1992 in Morrisville. Mr. Shantal was employed by the Queensboro Dairy, Canastota until his retirement. He enjoyed fixing just about everything around the house, including; cars, lawnmowers and televisions.
Survivng are his wife Pauline, his children, Nancy and Steve Rauscher and James Shantal of NV; Bruce Shantal and Joy Nita of Morrisville; Tamey Phillips of Waterville; Harley and Chrystal Shantal of W. Eaton. Step children, Katrina Thayer of Hamilton; Joel Griffin of Sherburne; Dorinda and Keith Close of Truxton; Clorissa and Steven Backo of Eaton. Two sisters in law, Vivian Shantal of Sheds; Ida Shantal of Oriskany Falls and many gradchildren; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by four sisters, Viola, Noreen, Doreen and Ruth and seven brothers, James, Floyd, Lloyd, Leon, Arnold, Everett and Donald.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 2 pm from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville. Followed by burial in Village View Cemetery, Morrisville. Friends are invited to call from noon until 2 pm prior to the service.
