Margaret O. Curns, 86, of Route 80, Smyrna, NY, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
She was born November 10, 1928 in Falston, MD, a daughter of Clyde C. and LouAnna McMillian Lewis. On August 31, 1946, Margaret married Benjamin E. Curns in Aberdeen, MD. He predeceased her on November 10, 1994. Margaret worked at General Lab (G.E. Aviation) in Norwich as a lab technician until retiring in 1990. She took pride in knowing that some of the parts she produced ended up on the moon. Margaret enjoyed fishing, hunting and bottle digging. She always kept up on current events including politics, news and weather.
She is survived by her children, Linda Curns Achimore (Stephen) of Fayetteville, NY; Benjamin Curns, Jr. of Stamford, NY; and Lorraine Curns Greenwood of Greene, NY; a sister, Shirley Lewis Hendricks of Havre de Grace, MD; two brothers, James Lewis of Yuba City, CA and Alton Lewis of CA; grandchildren, Deborah Cote of San Jose, CA; and Rebecca Palmer of Bainbridge, NY; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Carly, Wyatt and JB.
Graveside services will be held at 11am Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the Willcox Cemetery, Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Smyrna Emergency Squad.
