Margaret M. “Peg” Campon, 98, of Hamilton, NY, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, NY.
She was born on June 1, 1922 in Binghamton, NY, a daughter of William and Helen Major Ivey and was a graduate of Binghamton North High School. On November 20, 1941, Margaret married Peter T. Campon, Jr. in Binghamton, a loving union of over 66 years. He predeceased her on August 11, 2008. Peg had worked at McLaughlin’s Department Store in Hamilton. Primarily, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, traveling with her husband and just spending time with her family.
Peg was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton.
Surviving are her children, Peter T. Campon, III (Barbara Ray) of Hamilton; Patricia Rotondo of Trenton, NJ; Margaret “Peggy” Cool (Tom Martin) of Shawnee, KS; and Pamela Shaul (Mike Albin) of Hubbardsville, NY; a brother, Duane (Sharon) Ivey of Havana, IL; her grandchildren, Danielle (Andrew) Gill, Anthony (Kelli) Rotondo, Charles (Laurie) Rotondo, Emily (Kris) Balerna, Jamie Cool (Rich Taylor), Christopher (Amy) Cool, Megan (Anthony) Valenti, Kelly Cool (husband Andrew Kraus), Peter (Jenelle) Mayer, John (Lauren) Mayer, Maggie Mayer-Chupka (Blake); 19 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons-in-law, Louis Rotondo and Kevin Mayer.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in the spring of 2021.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
Margaret’s family would like to thank the staff at Crouse Community Center for the wonderful care she received. They would also like to thank Dr. Robert Delorme and JoEllen Nortz for care above and beyond the last few years.
