Marie W. Branagan, 83, of Bradley Brook Rd., Lebanon, NY, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Community Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, Hamilton.
She was born January 6, 1928 in Norwich, NY, the second child of Myrtle (Underwood) and Richard Monroe. She grew up in Smyrna, NY and graduated from Sherburne-Smyrna High School in 1947. For three summers, Marie was employed at the Pickle Factory in Smyrna. She was employed at Bennett-Ireland in Norwich for approximately 10 years. On September 7, 1950, Marie married Gerald Branagan in Smyrna. Marie worked side by side with Gerald in the operation of their dairy farm for nearly 50 years. She played the French horn for many years as an active member of the Smyrna Citizens Band.
Marie leaves behind her husband, Gerald of Lebanon; five children, son, Terrance of Vernon, NY; daughter, Diedra Chiles of Olean, NY; son, Preston of Plymouth, NY; son, Todd of South New Berlin, NY and son, Seth of Lebanon, NY.
In keeping with her wishes, services are private at the convenience of her family.
