MARION H. VANWYK
EATON: Marion H. VanWyk, 91, of Eaton, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Episcopal Church Home, Rochester. Marion had been in the care of Crouse Community Center from October 2003 to November 2011.
She was born November 1, 1920 in Guilderland, NY, a daughter of Henry and Lillian MacDonald Hallenbeck, and was a graduate of Altamont High School. Marion proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. On May 6, 1944, she married Ray C. Simmons of Eaton who predeceased her on November 18, 1956. Marion then married Richard R. VanWyk of Eaton on November 28, 1957 who predeceased her on November 21, 2010.
Mrs. VanWyk was a very active member of the Eaton Community Bible Church where she served in many positions and as a youth group leader. She was a charter member of the Eaton Fire Department Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, Ray and Dede Simmons of Eaton; Patty and Alan Harris of Rochester; Kathy Simmons and Ginger Martin of DeRuyter; grandchildren, Meagan and Yvonne Harris of Irondequoit; Joshua and Beth Harris of Hoboken, NJ; Amanda Simmons of Schenectady; Jessica Simmons of Morrisville; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Connor, and Charlotte Harris; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Ernest and Delbert, and sisters Helen and Marge.
In keeping with her wishes, funeral services and burial will be private.
There will be no calling hours.
