Mary G. Shaheen

Mary G. Shaheen, 87, of North Main St., Sherburne, NY, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
She was born August 25, 1932 in Sherburne, a daughter of Angelo and Myrtle Spaeth Giaquinto and received her education in Sherburne schools. On October 12, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to James J. Shaheen in St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne, a loving union of over 61 years. He predeceased her on March 10, 2019. Mary was a custodian for the Sherburne-Earlville Central School until retiring. She had previously worked at T.A.C.O. in Sherburne and McLaughlin’s in Norwich. Spending time with her family was her greatest pleasure. She enjoyed cooking and baking with a love for sweets and candy.
Mary was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church where she volunteered whenever she was needed and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and generously donated to many charitable organizations.
Surviving are her children, Cynthia (Richard) Lollman and Michael Shaheen, all of Sherburne; grandchildren, Kristopher and Jayson Lollman of Plantation, FL; step-grandson, Matthew (Julie) Lollman of Ardmore, OK; step-great-grandchildren, Ethan and Samuel Lollman; sisters-in-law, Ann Giaquinto of Sherburne and her son William Giaquinto of Greene; Martha Giaquinto and her daughter, Pamela (Sylvan) Schroer, all of Berkshire; many special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul, Francis and William Giaquinto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon on Friday, March 13, 2020 at St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne.
Interment will be in St. Malachy’s Cemetery at a later date.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne in Thursday from 6-8pm. The rosary will be recited at 5:45 pm.
