Nancy R. King, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 88 of New Harford, NY and longtime resident of Waterville, NY and summer resident of Long Lake, NY passed away peacefully on September 18, 2014 at the Presbyterian Nursing Home in New Hartford, NY.
Nancy Nash was born in Ticonderoga, NY on October 1, 1925, the daughter of Raymond and Winifred Smith Nash. She graduated from Ticonderoga High School and graduated from Cortland State Teacher’s College. She later completed 27 credits in business at Utica College.
In 1950 she married Edward King of Ithaca, NY in Hamilton, NY and together they had 3 children. After living in Auburn, NY for a short time Nancy and Ed moved to Waterville, NY where they raised their family and Nancy was an elementary and substitute teacher in the Waterville School system. While in Waterville, Nancy belonged to: Crystal Chapter of the New York Order of Eastern Star where she became Grand Matron and in later year’s Grand Representative, Waterville Garden Club, Waterville Women’s Club, Mohawk Valley Sports Car Club, Sports Car Club of America and the Travelers Club of Waterville. Nancy was an active volunteer in the community and volunteered her time as Executive Vice President of the Centennial Committee and served as Executive Vice President of the Waterville Centennial Ball; helped cook dinners for the Rotary Club of Waterville and was often called upon to help with decorations for various dinners and events. She was an active volunteer and fund-raiser for the Oneida County Women’s Republican Organization. She owned and operated an antique shop in Madison, NY for many years. In 1965 Nancy won first place in the Women’s Class for the Central New York Sports Car Club of America, gymkhana championship race.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, two sisters and son William and is survived by her son David and daughter in law Patricia, daughter Deborah and son in law Robert Clemente and grandchildren Elizabeth, Victoria, Ashley, Zachary and Nikki King and Craig and Brad Clemente and Stephanie and Ray Bosche and two Great Grandchildren.
A service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home (Kloster & Northrup Memorial Chapel) at 10 South Main Street in Waterville, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Brotherhood Scholarship at Waterville Central School in the name of Nancy and Edward King.
