Olive A. Clifford, 85, of Charles St., Hamilton, NY, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at her home.
She was born November 6, 1924 in Auburn, NY, a daughter of Edward and Caroline Fleig LaMotte and was a graduate of Auburn schools. On August 31, 1946, Olive married John H. Clifford in Auburn, a union that lasted 40 years until he predeceased her on October 24, 1986. Olive had worked at Vantine Studios in Hamilton and the Chaplains office at Colgate University. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed traveling and made many trips to California. Who else can say they helped decorate the Rose Parade floats and marched in the Dodgers victory parade! She was also a big fan of Notre Dame football.
Olive was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered her time to the Red Cross Blood Mobile and to the Worn Again store. She was also an election worker for many years.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Kelly of Hamilton; Martha and Theodore Antrum of Groton, NY; Elisa Clifford of Eagle Rock, CA; Emily and Michael Farina of Burbank, CA; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Geetha Clifford of Marysville, OH; daughter-in-law, Peggy Clifford of Morrisonville, NY; sisters-in-law, Evelyn LcMotte of Port Orange, FL; Dorothy Clifford and Beverly Clifford, both of Auburn, NY; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Edward Clifford in 2006, and a brother, Norman LaMotte.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, June 28, 2010 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, 16 Wylie St., Hamilton.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 7-9 pm on Sunday.
