Otto G. Young, Jr., 84, of Utica St., Hamilton, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
He was born September 22, 1924 in Bouckville, a son of the late Otto G., Sr. and Gladys Blair Young and was a graduate of Hamilton High School in 1942. Otto proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946. For 54 years, he was an automobile salesman for Jones, Bransfield and then Nilles Ford, all in Hamilton . He had also been a bus driver for Hamilton Central School for many years. Otto was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge #120 of Hamilton, and the Southern Madison County Ambulance Corp. (SOMAC).
Surviving are his lifetime companion, Charlotte Oakes of Hamilton; a sister, Ruth Wallace of Hamilton; brothers Clyde (Jeanette) Young of Hamilton; and Stanley Young of Hamilton; a brother-in-law, Joseph Winterhalt of Cleveland, NY; sisters-in-law, Roberta Young of Waterville; and Dorothy Young of Hamilton; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Winterhalt and three brothers, Carter, Melvin and Charles Young.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton followed by interment in the Smith Valley Cemetery, Randallsville, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Masonic service will be held at 7 PM.
