Phyllis A. Bigford, 88, of East Main St., Earlville, NY passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at her home.
She was born October 14, 1921 in Ilion, NY, a daughter of Harold and Pearle Wood Wilson and received her education in local schools. On November 30, 1939, Phyllis married William A. Bigford in Earlville, a loving union of over 70 years. Mrs. Bigford was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for the family business, Bigford Brothers Construction. She was devoted to caring for her family. She loved baking pies, gardening and canning, crocheting and making beautiful bedspreads for her loved ones. She enjoyed collecting dolls and hatpins as well as going to the annual Bouckville Antique Show. She was also an avid NY Yankees fan.
Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Earlville and had served as the church treasurer.
Surviving are her husband, William; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Chet Holbrook of Earlville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Ophelia Bigford of Erlanger, KY; Raymon Bigford of Earlville, and Mary Bigford of Earlville; her sisters and brothers, Vaune and Ralph Bigford of Earlville; Carole and Curt Keys of Morrisville; Gale Wilson of Mt. Upton; Nancy Wilde of FL; Sanford and Donna Wilson of VA; Dereck and Judie Wilson of Earlville; Janice and Morris Brown of Hamilton; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Gary Bigford on October 25, 2006; her brothers and sisters, Eugene Wilson, Gloria Wilson, Beverly Bottoff, Patricia Ryberg, Maris Wilson and Frederick Wilson.
In keeping with Phyllis’ wishes there are no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, May 15, 2010 in the Earlville Cemetery.
