Richard D. Cook, 65 of Earlville, NY passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown. He was born August 30, 1956, a son of the late Robert W. and Jean Frances Bennett Cook. He received his early education in Oxford and graduated from BOCES. Richard worked at CWS, Norwich, and was a participant in the Day Hab program at ACHIEVE in Norwich for many years. He enjoyed playing his guitar and piano and loved music of all kinds especially country, Johnny Cash was his favorite singer and he enjoyed listening to his song “Walk the Line”. He also loved Christmas Music, Children’s Music and going to watch the Pageant of Bands in Sherburne.
Richard enjoyed going bowling, playing basketball and was very good at frisbee. He enjoyed car rides and rides on the ATV side-by-side (buggy). He enjoyed the outdoors in the summer, camping, going for boat rides, fires, roasting marshmallows, chicken BBQ’s, ice cream, McDonald’s, family picnics in the yard and could often be seen walking to the store for a PEPSI. Richard was not a fan of the winter weather. He really loved going to his Prom where he could dress up in different outfits and was crowned prom king two times. Flying in an airplane was another wonderful experience for Richard and feeding calves on the farm with a bottle. Richard was an example of how life should be appreciated.
Surviving are his siblings; Barbara and Blaine Eves of Earlville, Sue Manley of Earlville, Patricia and Eugene Bohnert of Sherburne, Robert and Mary Cook of Earlville and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Private services at the Poolville Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
