STOCKWELL: Samuel C. Kelly, 85, of Gorton Lake Rd., passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford.
He was born on March 18, 1936 in Chest Springs, PA, a son of Samuel C. and Grace Conrad Kelly. He received his early education in Milford, CT and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT. Samuel married Joan Hopkins who predeceased him. On July 16, 1966, he married Gertrude A. Wilson in Stratford, CT. Sam worked in the trucking field for several employers, retiring from Simkins Industry in New Haven, CT.
He and Gertrude visited Central New York several times before moving here in 2004 following his retirement. He loved puttering around the home, mowing and cutting firewood.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; a grandson, Stephen Kelly of Newport News, VA; and two sisters, Arlene Kelly and Darlene Kelly, both of Stratford, CT. He was predeceased by his children James M. “Jim” Kelly, Barbara Kelly and Daniel Lee Kelly.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Interment will be private in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Waterville, NY.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville.
