Suzanne M. McGowan, 63, of Ridge St., Rome, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her home.
She was born January 10, 1953 in Acushnet, MA, a daughter of the late Antone and Lillian Lewis Nunes and was a graduate of local schools. She received her degree in nursing and most recently worked as a Registered Nurse at the Marcy Correctional Facility. She had worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for many years, and also in several other nursing positions around the area, including home healthcare. On September 17, 2012, Suzanne married James J. Gowan at Lake George, NY. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved to ride with her husband on his Harley.
Surviving are her husband, James; her children, Michael Almond, Samantha Corrigan, Casemira Almond, Eric Almond, Jared Almond and John Almond; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Brightman of Fairhaven, MA; Antoinette and George Jones of Dartmouth, MA; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Margaret Nunes of New Bedford, MA; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Drumheiser.
Memorial services will be held at 8:30pm Thursday, January 21, 2016 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel), 21 E. Main St., Waterville, NY.
Interment is private at the convenience of her family,
