Verna May White Reed of Bouckville, NY, passed away May 30, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Stockbridge, NY on February12, 1931, a daughter of Charles and Grace Morehouse White. She lived in the area between Stockbridge and Morrisville her entire life. She graduated in 1948 from Stockbridge Valley Central School, and worked thereafter at Oneida Supply Incorporated. Later she worked for many years at Oneida-Madison Electric Coop, where she was one of four women managers in the United States at that time. Verna was married to John J. (Jack) Reed November 22, 1950 at Stockbridge United Methodist Church, and they resided in Bouckville for more than 60 years. They owned and operated Reed Farms and following their retirement, their children took over the farm. Her beloved husband Jack was her soul mate and caretaker for several years. Verna loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved gardening and her flower beds. Verna and Jack spent several winters at their second home in Deland, FL, and especially enjoyed their friends who came to play cards. She cherished her animal friends Orphie, Mo, Muffin and Trouble.
She is survived by her husband, Jack and her three children John (Marsha) Reed, Mark (Starr) Reed, and Michele Reed, all of Bouckville, eight grandchildren, Shane, Trevor (Tara), Sarah (Eric) Law, Stacey (Justin) Shantal, Mark (Amy) Reed, Jacob (Rachel) Reed, Emma Reed and Sean Trudell, eleven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Verna was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and George White.
At Verna May's request there will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Stockbridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Morris officiating.
