Virginia P. “Ginny” Chilson, 98, formerly of Eaton, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility.
She was born July 12, 1918 in the Town of Eaton, a daughter of Lewis and Hallie Ward Potter and received her education in local schools. On September 24, 1937, Virginia married Richard G. Chilson in Canastota. He predeceased her on August 18, 1991. Virginia had worked at Oneida Ltd. in Sherrill, and then for AT&T in Hamilton as an operator until her retirement.
She was a member of the Eaton Community Bible Church and the Eaton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, Janice Charles of Hamilton; Douglas and Diane Chilson of Cicero; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Charles, Kimberly Williams, Jennifer Maddison, Vicki (Hannes) Lorenz, James Matteson and Alan (Rebecca) Matteson; sixteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Ciccone, son-in-law, Douglas Charles; brother, Raymond Potter; a granddaughter Deborah Krouse; and a great-grandson, Spencer Matteson.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, December 3, 2016 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
Interment will be in the Eaton Village Cemetery in the spring.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11am to 1pm Saturday prior to the service.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Eaton Volunteer Fire Department.
