Walter Klisiwecz

April 21, 1934 — May 19, 2015

Walter G. “Bert” Klisiwecz, 81, of Bailey Rd., Hubbardsville, NY, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY.
He was born on April 21, 1934 in Morristown, NJ, a son of Walter and Mary K. Vnenchak Klisicwecz and attended Montville, NJ schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On August 28, 1964, Walter married Margot Dalton in Mountain Lakes, NJ. Bert was an entrepreneur who owned and operated several successful businesses, including Bert’s Body Shop in Montville, NJ; B & H Enterprises in Boonton, NJ; and W & W Auto in Hubbardsville, NY. He was also a licensed auto insurance appraiser. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Bert was a civic minded and active member of his community. He was a former member and past president of the Lions Club of Boonton, NJ; a member of the American Legion Post #375 of Hamilton, NY; and a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club of America, Mohawk Valley Regional Group #59 of Central NY.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margot; his beloved children, Meg and James David Hutchings of Newark, DE; Walter P. Klisiwecz and his wife, Patty Michaelson of Delmar, NY; his precious grandchildren, Evan James Hutchings, Michael George Klisiwecz and Peter William Klisiwecz. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Helen.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4pm Friday, May 22, 2015 from St. Bernard’s Church, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville, NY.
Interment will be in the Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Friends of Bassett, 1 Atwell Rd., Cooperstown, NY 13323; or to the Veterans Outreach Center, 726 Washington St., Utica, NY 13502.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY.
