Warren S. Tuzzo, 69, of Sherburne, NY passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY,
He was born June 30, 1942 in Hubbardsville, NY, a son of Russell and Genevieve Crumb Tuzzo and was a graduate of Hamilton High School. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1961 to 1965 when he was honorably discharged. On April 24, 1971, Warren married Yvonne Coon in Earlville. Warren had been a carpenter for the Rome Union local. He became a correctional officer for the NYS Department of Corrections in 1981, working at Greenhaven, Auburn and then Camp Georgetown until his retirement in 2002.
Warren was a member of the American Legion Post #876 of Sherburne. He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Yvonne; a daughter, Wanda Tuzzo-Bates of Sherburne; sisters, Neta Lachevet of Hamilton; Sylvia (Donald) Polisse of Hubbardsville, and Patricia Longwell of Broadalbin; his beloved grandchildren, Alexa May and Bret Russell Bates; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 1pm Friday, March 30, 2012 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment in the Earlville Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 11am until 1pm prior to the service.
