Barbara Joan Doing

Barbara Joan Doing, age 79, of Norwich, NY died March 14, 2022 at the Mercy House in Endicott, NY, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on June 4, 1942 in Hamilton, NY, the daughter of Paul and Gladys Lamb.

Barb grew up on the family farm in Hamilton, NY.  On September 10, 1960, she married her soulmate William Doing.  They had a perfect fairytale marriage for 61 years.  Barb worked in the Admissions Office at Colgate University as an administrative assistant for 30 years. She was very dedicated to her work and enjoyed the people she worked with.  She loved to travel and vacation with Bill. They spent 14 years traveling the country in their 5th wheel camper during their retirement, including two trips to Alaska. Winters were spent in Florida where Barb had many friends.  Barb enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, playing bingo and most importantly, spending time with family.

Earlier in life, Barb and Bill loved to ride snowmobiles in the winter and their Honda Goldwing motorcycle in the summer. Motorcycle rallies were a popular choice where they would even bring a pull behind camper to spend the night. Barb was a great cook and loved to make meals with twice the amount of food that could possibly be eaten. 

Surviving are her husband William Doing of Norwich, NY, her children, Michelle and Jeff Reese of Earlville, NY, Richard and Louise Doing of Raleigh, NC, Christine Pierce and Linn Rifanburg of Oxford, NY, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Calling hours will be held at the Burgess and Tedesco Funeral Home in Earlville, NY on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 1-3 pm, the services to follow.
