Barbara A. Pierce

Barbara A. Pierce, 78, of State Route 12, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at her home. She was born in Norwich on September 21, 1944, a daughter of the late Donald and Anna Barley Parsons. She was a graduate of Sherburne High School and SUNY Morrisville with a degree in Social Working. On June 15, 1963 at the Sherburne United Methodist Church she was united in Marriage to Roy B. Pierce. Barbara worked as a social worker for low-income families at Headstart for over 30 years until her retirement.
She was a member of the Sherburne United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post #876, Auxiliary where she was past president. She enjoyed creating crafts, camping but most of all caring for her family.  
Surviving is her husband, Roy; her children, Allen (Yvette) Pierce, Kristen (Joel) Griffin both of Sherburne; her grandchildren, Jason and Brooke Pierce, Kyle and Ashley Pierce, Jessica Excell, Morgan and Charlie Edmonds and Corey Boice all of Sherburne; 
her great grandchildren, Mason and Grayson Pierce, Aletta and Eli Pierce, Emmaleigh Excell, Elizabeth, Samuel, and Madilynn Edmonds; sisters Linda (Charles) Giordano of Sherburne, Kathy (Corky) Martone of Endicott, Lisa (Patrick) Darling of Norwich, brothers; David (Sukcha) Parsons of Norwich, Kevin (Patsy) Parsons of Sherburne and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460 on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM.   Friends are invited and may call on Wednesday February 22, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. The Legion Auxiliary will conduct honors at 6:45 PM.                                                                              
Interment will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery. Following the interment, a celebration of Barbara’s life will continue at 127 Knapp Rd., Sherburne.
